The successful candidate is someone in full-time employment, any other person wishing to only become involved on an ad hoc basis or someone interested in full-time business broking but preferring a more cautious approach.

The Business Opportunity

We constantly need good businesses for sale. We also have qualified buyers seeking businesses to buy or business investors looking for business opportunities. Interested in helping us find businesses for sale or persons looking for business investment, helping us make the connections and becoming involved in making introductions? Read further and welcome to the business that defined us as individuals and has not made us look back!

What you earn

Our commission ranges between 5% and 7% depending on the value of the business, type of the transaction and the mandate we receive from our client. On successful conclusion of any transaction, where you have acted as the introducer of the business for sale and / or introducer of the buyer or investor, you immediately earn commission:

Introduction to the buyer: 20%
Introduction to the seller: 20%
Concluder of the complete transaction: 60%

Introduction effectively means obtaining a signed mandate and / or confidentiality agreement from the seller or buyer. Commission is payable immediately on finalization of the business sale or business opportunity transaction.

Making the numbers real:

Introduce us to any small business with a value of, say, R500,000 and on sale thereof (standard commission 6%) your fee is R6,000.

Value businesses seldom trade under R1,5m (standard commission 5%). Introduce us to anyone looking for such a business to buy and on conclusion your fee is R15,000.

Conclude the complete transaction of R1m (standard commission 5%), that reflects a very average trade, and your fee is R30,000.

How difficult is this?

Our ideal candidate is anyone who has regular contact with business owners or who knows more people than the average person. Self-test:

  • Make a list of your 4 best contacts who either own a business or who seek an investment opportunity;
  • Contact them and explore from the business owners whether they may be interested in selling their business. Should they not be interested now, tell them to please let you know when the opportune time arises. Ask the investors whether they have explored the return on investment from owning a business; and
  • Join us as an Associate as soon as you have success, albeit immediately or when you are contacted in due course.

The bottom line is that all businesses are for sale, now or later. They are almost always for sale at the right price. We have been surprised, time and time again, with how many people are looking for a solid business to buy or genuine business opportunity. Invest a bit of effort and see where this takes you. We have found it to be fun and very lucrative.

Regulatory Environment

The financial services and business environment in South Africa is highly regulated. Business broking is no exception. Before earning any commission, you need to ensure compliance with various fiscal laws and regulations. We will have to register you as our Employee Estate Agent in terms of the Estate Agency Affairs Act, appoint you as an independent contractor and enter into proper agreements to effect a relationship that ensures compliance and establishes proper legal reality. You will also have to become familiar and comply with various laws on money laundering and giving financial advice. Knowledge of the extent and impact of these laws and regulations is part of what we provide to ensure you operate professionally, ethically and within the ambit of the law. No business venture can be sustainable and successful otherwise.

Commitment money

Entry comes with "commitment money" of R3,620. This is once-off and none of this money goes into the pockets of Biztrader. We only make money when transactions are concluded, in other words, when you make money.

The money is there to demonstrate your buy-in and establish an entry barrier for prospective Business Associates. Its expense will be as follows:

  • Biztrader Business Cards (1,000)
  • R350.00
  • Independent Contractor Documentation
  • R120.00
  • Registration and related EAAB costs
  • R850.00
  • Other Regulatory costs
  • R400.00
  • Postage and correspondence
  • R100.00
  • Biztrader e-mail for two years
  • R240.00
  • Fax to e-mail for two years
  • R160.00
